AM Magazine

Dansk AM Hub first published the Danish AM Report in 2019. The annual report takes the pulse of developments in additive manufacturing (or AM, the abbreviation of the English term Additive Manufacturing).
In 2023, the publication changes its name to AM Magazine, making this the fifth issue aimed at stakeholders in the Danish AM ecosystem as well as Danish manufacturing companies—especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Additive Manufacturing:
& four concrete steps towards greener production

In AM Magazine 2023, you will get four concrete steps on how you can use AM technology to create more sustainable production: by producing digitally and locally, considering material choices and waste, optimising your designs, and factoring your production’s full life cycle into your value chain. Get inspired by strong companies working with the four steps and receive advice and guidance on how to get started yourself.
You can also learn more about the year that has passed—as well as how our members are working to promote more sustainable production.

AM Report 2022: How we create more sustainable production

In the Danish AM Report 2022, you can read that one in three manufacturing companies uses AM technology, which is an increase compared to previous years.

More companies find that with AM they can create more sustainable production through reduced material consumption and waste, and by developing products that are easier to recycle. And many actually experience a greater sustainability impact from using the technology than they had expected.

You can also read more about how the AM environment grew in 2021, which truly left an additive footprint—as well as how our members experienced the year and their plans for 2022.

AM Report 2021: Potential for a sustainable future

In this third report in the series, you can learn more about the potential and opportunities of 3D printing, 3D metal printing, and the potential for more sustainable production.

You can read about how the COVID-19 pandemic led healthcare systems, business organisations, companies, and private individuals to print and distribute the protective equipment for which there was an acute demand. And how local production with 3D printing and AM made manufacturing companies with global supply chains more independent of foreign deliveries during the COVID-19 crisis.

With local production, better designs, and lower material consumption and waste, AM is a sustainable manufacturing technology—where production will only become more sustainable as printing materials become bio-based.

AM Report 2020: Danish companies call for training and skills in 3D printing

The annual screening shows that 25% of Danish manufacturing companies still use AM technology.

According to representatives from larger Danish companies, the manufacturing industry faces a serious challenge in maintaining international competitiveness if it does not adopt new technologies to a greater extent. They are strongly calling for employees with the necessary knowledge and skills within AM.

In the 2019 AM Report, you can also see results from Dansk AM Hub’s own study of the stakeholder landscape, including research and education, as well as the start-up landscape within the field.

AM Report 2019: Danish companies need to think more strategically

Danish companies are beginning to adopt AM technology. A survey among Danish manufacturing companies concludes that 25% use AM / 3D printing.

Companies find that the use of AM technology affects their business approach and business model, and that they are far better able to meet users’ needs. At the same time, the technology has a positive effect on the company’s product innovation.

However, they primarily use the technology for prototypes, and according to Dansk AM Hub, Danish companies need to adopt the technology at a different level if they are to truly benefit from the growth potential in 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing.
