A 1% reduction in energy loss saves customers DKK 85,000 per system
As a market leader in refrigeration solutions for large buildings, Advansor must ensure continued development of even more cost-effective and climate-friendly solutions.
By optimising the designs of the refrigeration systems, they now ensure their customers an energy saving of 70,000 kWh per year, equivalent to up to DKK 85,000 per year.
The case: Overview and context
Sharp bends in the piping caused a clear pressure drop in the systems, leading to less efficient cooling and significant energy waste. Advansor’s developers were already working with 3D printing, but exclusively in plastic.
In close collaboration with AM Hub, the challenge was defined and partners identified in order to initiate a redesign.
“We had the opportunity to optimise where it really matters-inside the component. With 3D printing, it has been possible to produce pipes that are both compact, more aerodynamic internally, and easier to integrate into Advansor’s machines. I honestly did not think it was an option before we took part in a programme with Danish AM Hub.”

Value and impact for the company
Based on the specific challenges with pressure drop caused by an existing manifold design, it was decided to carry out a redesign with a focus on 3D printing as the production method. This increased design freedom and made it possible to reduce 17 parts to just 3 components.
The new design is far more aerodynamic, prevents pressure drop, and can easily be integrated into existing systems.
