As one of the first to embrace the capabilities of additive manufacturing (AM), the medical industry is one of the pioneers of additive. AM has allowed this industry to increase the quality of life for patients around the world. The orthopedics industry has been leading the way in applying additive technology, from off-the-shelf implants to patient-specific solutions.
Tangible Solutions is a specialized manufacturer of additively manufactured orthopedic implants and a heavy user of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), also known as Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM). Through Tangible Solutions’ experience, they understand the challenges of new product development in the additive space and the design and process-control considerations of medical implants.
During this webinar, Stephan Zeidler from GE Additive and Matthew Shomper from Tangible Solutions will explore how the company is leveraging DMLM technology to improve patient outcomes and push the limits of design and process control in metal PBF.

Learn in this webinar about the new innovations in Binder Jet technology and get an overview of design considerations and the technical drivers behind them. The session will explore Binder Jet’s advantages and why it is suited to displace castings.
Over the past several years, many industries have embraced the design freedoms and production capabilities of additive manufacturing. Even though AM has realized increasing acceptance as an alternative to traditional manufacturing, it has not been seen as an economical replacement for castings. However, as additive technology advances, it is becoming a viable, cost-effective method for large-scale production.
Binder Jet is one emerging additive technology that can have a tremendous impact on traditional supply chains and is an efficient method for producing innovative components quickly and at scale.
Join this webinar to learn about the new innovations in Binder Jet technology, the unique design considerations and how the technology compares to traditional castings.

A205 is a lightweight aluminum alloy derived from the aerospace approved A20X™ alloy. Due to a unique solidification mechanism, this material exhibits a highly refined microstructure leading to exceptional high strength, exceeding the yield strength of AlSi10Mg by more than 150 MPa (+60%) in the heat-treated state. Additionally, A205 demonstrates excellent thermal stability, stress corrosion resistance and comparatively superior fatigue properties to other AlSi-based additively manufactured alloys. These superior properties – achieved through high cooling rates to create a high-density, crack-free and finely scaled dendritic microstructure – makes the alloy an excellent choice for additively manufactured applications.
Join this webinar to learn about the fundamental steps undertaken to develop the A205 parameters and find out about the capability and robustness of this new parameter set for GE Additive’s Concept Laser M2 Series 5 DMLM machine.

Event Details
Additive technologies are showing promising signs of success in offering alternatives to conventional methods. Even though powder-based additive processes can reduce waste compared to subtractive manufacturing, the cost of powders as raw materials can be expensive, translating into prohibitive costs of process and parts. Significant efforts have been made by the industry, academia and government research agencies to bring an understanding of the effect of multiple uses of different powder alloys on the powder attributes, process and the properties of final parts. Additionally, production demands within the industry have found it necessary to view powder reuse as an integral part of building a winning business case in industrialization of powder-based metal additive manufacturing.
This webinar will give a holistic view of powder reuse by highlighting the importance of understanding the different aspects of the powder cycle loop prior to launching a powder reuse study/campaign. Reuse strategy options will be compared based on cost, ease of implementation and quality of process.
