Dreaming of space?

Now’s your chance to turn that dream into reality. Join the Space Challenge and submit your best 3D design for a 1U CubeSat. This is your chance to see your design come to life, printed in aluminum and potentially launched into space!

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

The winning design will be brought to reality and launched into space as part of a future mission! The winning team will collaborate with the Danish Student Cubesat Program DISCO and the Danish Technological Institute to finalize and print the design. If successful, your creation will be launched as a future DISCO mission.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Design: Create a 3D model of a 1U CubeSat structure that meets the CubeSat Design Specification Rev. 14.1 and can house a PyCubed board with accompanying batteries. The remaining space should be designed to carry a payload as flexibly as possible.
  • Innovate: Consider how solar panels and antennas could be installed, but don’t worry about providing finalized solutions – just show us your innovative approach!
  • Additive Manufacturing (AM): How creatively have you utilized AM in your design?
  • Diversity Matters: We value diverse teams. Your team’s composition in terms of gender and professional background will be an important evaluation criterion.
  • Submit: Send your design along with a video presentation explaining the idea behind it by 21 October 2024.

GET IN TOUCH EARLY!

All teams planning to submit a design should contact Christoffer Karoff at karoff@geo.au.dk as early as possible for guidance and support.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The five best teams will be invited to present their designs at the AM Summit in Copenhagen on 24 October 2024. Whether in person or via video, this is your chance to showcase your work to an audience of experts and enthusiasts.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Functionality: How well does your design meet the requirements?
  • Innovation in AM: How creatively and effectively have you utilized AM?
  • Diversity: The composition of your team in terms of gender and professional background.
